Windows is very customizable, but the security features are only active when the computer is switched on. If you perform a quick search for Windows exploits, millions of results come up. At the time of writing, there was 8,225 listed exploits! it would take forever for Microsoft to patch them all. As a result, Windows is the most targeted operating system by malware, which is may persuade you to switch to Linux. Windows wasn't based on security unlike Linux though. Take for example Microsoft XP, all you had to do was open an email and you could get a virus, even Microsoft gave up on XP. What Microsoft decided to do was to create a secure operating system from the remains of XP. Linux and Mac OS were years ahead in security because they based themselves around it.
